Are you kidding? I loved The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Star Trek, and Slumdog Millionaire! In fact, Iron Man was my favorite movie of last year! My favorite movie of all time isn't Dragonball Evolution, I don't even consider it close to being in my favorites at all. My all time favorite movie is Pulp Fiction. Also, dude, I have no taste... in your opinion. It's not a fact. Some people like the Spider-Man movies, they don't have bad taste, you just disagree with it.

I can enjoy it because it isn't Dragonball, also nothing can ruin Dragonball, it'll always be great, no matter what hits it.

you know, when somebody insults your father/mother/sister/brother or a friend will they be ruined? of course not, nothing can ruin them, they will always be great to you...but you'll still be insulted? and angry about that insult and oppose to it, right?

The same way we don't want this insult to develop further...

As for your answer I am happy to see that. You're not for the sequels and further franchise and travesty of DB, your in sure.
But please, even though you liked it as a movie, I'd love you to not spread love about this movie or such, but to keep that opinion for yourself, because I already can hardly understand how can you like something which is pissing on DB, EVEN ONLY AS A MOVIE, so to keep it all clear and nice, just don't boast DBE as a movie around here.

Eytinge, I respect your opinion, but in order to say that something is BAD you have to give it a comparison, you have to say bad comparing to WHAT, bad by which aspect, and by whose standards?
There is no such thing as MAIN MOST RIGHT TASTE IN THE WORLD towards which every other taste should be measured, everybody have THEIR own tastes and they say that something is bad by THEIR standards and opinions.
So I must disagree.
By my taste of course, this is as a movie uber horrible, I never liked cliche teenage dramas and high school flicks and such, so even if I never knew of DB and if DB never existed but just this movie, I would perfectly dislike it and not waste a moment of watching it.

So, basically we should all try to be as objective as we can when criticizing. And no matter what there are always some facts we can rely on. Society needs critics, more important we should all work on ourselves to be one. It would be horrible if everyone would have the same taste, but on the other hand that doesn't mean that something like a bad taste in art forms doesn't exist. There are certain standards when it comes to any form of art.

I believe there is no any standard nor anything like that for art and matters of LIKES/DISLIKES, ENJOY/NOT-ENJOY and such.

THERE ARE standards for WRONG/RIGHT, UNFAITHFUL/FAITHFUL and other TECHNICAL terms which have a clear specific definition and have certain system(moral system, logical system, physical law system) by which they are judged to be one or another, but as for the ART its absolutely all subjective in my opinion.

But like I said many times, none of it matters, as its not about how good DBE is as a movie but how good it is as a Dragon Ball...cause in this second case you have standard by which you judge whether its faithful or not, but for that first, there is no standard, standards are our own particular tastes.

P.S. UNLESS ...unless there is a certain definition for the term "bad taste" in the dictionaries, which stands for having a different taste than majority of people.

^ Actually, standards do exist. The elite in every society in a certain age and on a certain territory defines it. Even though we all take art subjectively that doesn't mean that standards doesn't exist. I mean, start studying any form of art and you'll find them in any book, encyclopedia, etc. So you have your subjective view, but nobody except us, a certain amount of people around you cares about it. Internet can make a change, you'll be in contact with a larger amount of people but still your subjective opinion is almost unimportant. Intellectual elite, people which opinion is important, people who are experts for a certain form of art set the standards.
When it comes to DBE, standard that I had in mind is precisely the one you put- how good it is as a adaptation( of a Dragon Ball). Experts in cinematography should view it from that perspective but unlike you and me they also look it from a bit wider angle.

So? One can say it fails as an adaptation, which it does, and still find an enjoyable time watching it. Sure, I hate the movie on both ends, but if people like it, that doesn't take away from the fact they are DB fans

I man, look at it this way. I like Grey's Anatomy, House, Heroes and other shows that are the COMPLETE opposite of DB. I'm still a fan.

I liked the X-Men trilogy, and I had a good time watching Origins (even though I admit it failed to adapt X-Men and particularly Deadpool), and yet, I still love the original comics

So they had a great time, the only problem is that this movie was not meant to be enjoyed as a comedy, the view of such people is almost unimportant. Now, we can also imagine a person that had an enjoyable time (without laughing), but you see, the view of that person is almost unimportant, unless that person is a respected critic, or that person is a part of the social elite in some other way. And that\those person\s can claim that he\she\they like DB and that they also like DBE. And, I already said this- that's O.K., but they are delusional if they think that they are the fans of both. That's a different thing, you can't be the fan of both. So if a person is a fan of DBE that does take away from the fact he\she's a DB fan.
A simple example:
It's like worshiping the principles of good and in the same time the principles of evil. To be able to do such thing means that you suffer from some mental disorder.

Well, I haven't watched any of those shows. I'm familiar with GA and House(when changing the channel). I was pleased when I read a review of GA from one Serbian critic that I respect, and the critic rip it apart. I don't know what values are presented in those series, and I don't care about them. I don't see what's that got to do with DB, if you're a fan of such series that doesn't mean you can't be a fan of DB, unless those series contain some nihilistic point of view.
We are talking here about a movie which is connected to DB.
When it comes to X-Men, for that you'll have to talk with a X-Men fan, and I'm not a X-Men fan.

I got a disney channel original movie vibe from the film. So I guess if you like Wendi Wu kung fu warrior or High school musical you'll probably like this movie too.

Personally I hated it.

Is that a victory or a loss, maybe its their way of saying "if we can't do it our way we won't even try again." So no live action adaptation at all. If you don't like live action adaptations that won't bother you, but if you do like quality ones its something to think about.
